mountd

service remote NFS mount requests

Syntax:

mountd [-n] [exports_file]

Options:

-n
Allow non-superuser mount requests to be served. You should specify this option only if you have clients that don't support user IDs, such as DOS machines. If you do have DOS-based clients, you'll also need to run pcnfsd.
exports_file
Use this exports file (default is /etc/exports).

Description:

The mountd daemon services NFS mount requests from client machines. The daemon keeps a (unreliable) list of current client mounts in the /usr/tmp/mountdtab file.

Sending a SIGHUP signal to mountd causes it to reread its exports file.

Files:

/etc/exports
Defines remote mount points for NFS mount requests.
/usr/tmp/mountdtab
Contains an (unreliable) list of current client mounts.
